Tradition from the times of British

Some ‘traditions’ in India started during the British Raj. Public property was regarded as something that belongs to the Raj and to destroy the property was considered the best form of protest by many who did not believe in non-violent revolutions.

Much water has flown down the Ganges ever since we bid the British rulers good-riddance, but the tradition continues. The tradition went a step ahead in Bangalore last week when there was no proper reason to protest. Probably a mob psychology, many say. There seems to be no one single solution to this. Economic and social development by right (and quick) education and economic policies may change the attitude of the people who engage in this tradition.
